LILIA Sculptural candleholder for GEORG JENSEN LIVING

Light is one of the essences of life.  Scandinavia either has too much of it in the glorious summer or not enough of it in darkness of the icy winter. Yet we find light in other forms to create a cosy, warm ambience. The LILIA candleholder created by London-based, American designer Todd Bracher, plays with radiant light of candles and the rawness of stainless steel.

The fluid, elegant form of the LILIA candleholder was inspired by the lily flower. The Lily’s flawless beauty and rounded contours have been captured in the design of the candleholder. When the mirror polished stainless steel surface interacts with the candle’s flame the holder comes to life. Todd Bracher explains “The candleholder is like a backdrop to present the beauty of the flame. The flame flickers and dances against the purity of the steel – much like the Lily’s petals act as a pure, understated backdrop to the vivid beauty of the Lily’s stamen.”

The LILIA candleholder series uniquely makes use of different types of candles - a thick rounded candle for the large version and a tealight candle for the small version.  Todd Bracher explains “The tealight candle’s flame is captured and reflected brightly against the mirror polished surface. The interaction of other elements such as a soft blowing of wind enlivens the piece.”  Whether on their own or grouped together the LILIA candleholders create a warm and inviting ambience.

About Todd Bracher
Educated in Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute in New York and also attending Denmark’s Design School majoring in interiors and furnishings, American born Todd Bracher has captivated with his furniture and product design for many contemporary homewares brands including Zanotta, Jaguar, Fritz Hansen, IDEE and Urban Outfitters. He also worked as a Senior Designer at design agency Tom Dixon in London. He has also won UNESCO design award and has been an ID award winner 3 times. The LILIA candleholder is his first collaboration with Georg Jensen.
